Scientific Integrity

We are committed to accuracy and honesty in how science is represented on screen. We support work that engages with uncertainty and complexity rather than oversimplifying or sensationalizing for effect.

Editorial Independence

Programming and curatorial decisions are made on artistic and scientific merit, free from undue influence by funders, sponsors, or political interests. Conflicts of interest are disclosed.

Open Access to Ideas

We welcome films and filmmakers of all nationalities, backgrounds, experience levels and institutional affiliations. Our network is built on the belief that compelling scientific audiovisual works can come from anywhere.

Respect and Fair Treatment

We treat all science film and media stakeholders, partners, colleagues, and audiences with professionalism and respect. Harassment, discrimination, and abuse of power within our events or network have no place in ESFA's community and will not be tolerated.

Responsible Stewardship

We aim to run our operations, events, and Forums with reasonable care for their environmental and financial footprint, proportionate to our scale as a non-profit network.

Transparency

We are honest with our community, partners, and funders about our activities, decisions, weaknesses and how resources are used.
