Repositioning ESFA's network to strengthen film's role in science literacy.
Event description
The European Science Film Association (ESFA) will formally relaunch its network of science film and media professionals across Europe on October 23rd during the industry activities of the Pariscience festival in Paris.
Throughout 2026, ESFA has engaged its broad network with a survey and Forum on Film in service of science literacy, designed to identify the most pressing needs an association like ESFA can respond to. Our community of film and content makers, producers, distributors, science communicators, scientists, and others have spoken clearly and decisively.
The ESFA relaunch will present findings from the stakeholder outreach and announce upcoming initiatives. The event will be held in English and followed by an apéro, open to all. Attendance spots are limited and will be offered on a first come first served basis.

ESFA was created in 2016, originally under the name European Academy of Science Film (EURASF), as a volunteer-run association. After a slow down of activities during Covid, it rebanded as ESFA and founded the association in Switzerland, where it is currently housed at CERN.
